Pittsburgh Steelers' practice got a little testy on Wednesday.

According to Mike DeFabo of The Athletic, defensive lineman Esezi Otomewo hit running back Kaleb Johnson with a hard hit during a drill, and multiple offensive linemen, including guard Mason McCormick, didn't appreciate that and came to the defense of their rookie running back.

"During team run period, Esezi Otomewo close lines rookie RB Kaleb Johnson during what’s supposed to be a low-contact drill in shells. Mason McCormick and others come to their RB’s defense and a big scrum ensues," DeFabo wrote on X.

Alex Kozora of Steelers Depot added that punches were thrown.

"Big scrum, punches thrown. Broken up now," Kozora wrote on X.

Lastly, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com also added that Troy Fautanu took a swing at Otomewo.

Otomewo is fighting for a roster spot, so he's putting 100% effort into each play, which can lead to some fights and scuffles with teammates.

The 26-year-old spent the 2024 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Otomewo signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh this offseason, and if he makes the roster, he should serve as a depth piece on the defensive line.

The Steelers will hit the road for their first preseason game on Saturday versus the Jaguars. It's clear that the players are ready to hit and play a real game after weeks of practice.
