The Dallas Cowboys navigated the 2025 NFL draft over the last three days and came away with nine players in total. However, one position the Cowboys didn't address was wide receiver.

The Cowboys had a huge need at the position going into the draft, as Dallas does not have much behind star wideout, CeeDee Lamb, with Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, Jonathan Mingo, Ryan Flournoy and Parris Campbell all being total wild cards. The team also lost Brandin Cooks in free agency.

It goes without saying that the Cowboys need to add to their wide receivers room for quarterback Dak Prescott, and preferably a legit No. 2 option. That's why Bleacher Report's Paul Kasabian predicted Dallas could trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, George Pickens.

"Dallas didn't pick another wideout in this draft, so there's still a need there for another star wideout. Pickens could potentially be the answer," Kasabian wrote.

Pickens has been the subject of trade rumors all offseason long, as the team figures to be hesitant to extend the star wide receiver as he enters the final year of his deal because of his volatile nature. Ahead of the draft, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that the Steelers were taking calls on Pickens.

Pickens would be just what the doctor ordered for the Cowboys. He could be a No. 1 on a lot of teams, so he'd be a fantastic No. 2 in Dallas, assuming he can keep his head on straight, which has been an issue.

The former second-rounder would have to be extended in order for the Cowboys to avoid losing him for nothing in 2026. Spotrac projects Pickens will land a four-year, $94 million deal when his time comes.

Dallas doesn't have a good financial situation in 2025 and 2026, but with more funds set to open up in 2027, they should be able to make an extension with Pickens work.

All that said, it remains unlikely that the Steelers will trade Pickens, especially after not drafting a wide receiver at all in the 2025 NFL draft.

The bottom line is, while he may not have a future in Pittsburgh, the Steelers need Pickens, as trading him would leave them very short at wide receiver for 2025, barring the team making a significant addition through a trade or free agency.
