Aaron Rodgers signing with Steelers gets major update from QB's biographer image

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be close to their free agent deal with Aaron Rodgers.

But it has felt like that for a while, and no contract is signed yet, so fans are getting a bit antsy.

One man who has a strong knowledge of Rodgers recently shared his take on the matter.

Ian O'Connor wrote the definitive Rodgers biography, Out of the Darkness, that was released in 2024. He knows a thing or two about Rodgers' life and career.

He recently joined 93.7 The Fan to give his own take on things.

"Talking to a couple of people close to Aaron, I have a sense of what it might be,” O’Connor said. “I’m not comfortable reporting it right now, but I don’t think it would prevent him from playing football with the Steelers... I just think verbally, behind the scenes, not that he guaranteed it, but he’s told (the Steelers), ‘Listen, I’m gonna play for you. I just don’t want to go there and then miss part of mandatory minicamp because of my personal issues. I’m pretty sure they’re gonna be solved by the end of May, at least in my satisfaction where I can give you my all.’ I think that’s where he is.”

O'Connor seemed to initially not want to really touch on it, then more or less said it'll be the Steelers at some point sooner rather than later.

It's just one perspective, but it's one you don't often get. NFL quarterbacks haven't usually had a biography written about them while they're still playing.

This definitely is just one more thing pointing to Rodgers winding up with the Steelers, and by O'Connor's thinking, maybe it'll happen by the end of May.
