Aaron Rodgers is not walking into a great situation with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After having a major issue at wide receiver in 2024, things are pretty much status quo in 2025. DK Metcalf is a more stable option than George Pickens was, but the trade of the latter leaves Pittsburgh with concerns behind their new No. 1 target.

The good news is, general manager Omar Khan is on the lookout for a trade that will solve Pittsburgh's issue, but the bad news is he isn't exactly putting his best foot forward, with Khan reportedly lowballing teams in trade offers.

While things don't look great on the trade front, there are still some decent options left for the Steelers in free agency, with Amari Cooper and Keenan Allen topping the list.

Don't count on the addition of Allen, though, as the veteran wideout has said he isn't interested in playing for Pittsburgh.

With Allen seemingly crossed off the list of possible Steelers solutions, Cooper is now the best option the team has on the open market.

The former $100 million wide receiver was recently pegged as a possible target for Pittsburgh in a free agent pitch by FOX Sports.

"A five-time Pro Bowler, Cooper has found success on a handful of playoff teams and likely wants to be part of a team that has a chance to contend," the outlet explained "He'll also be just 31 when the 2025 season opens.

"A wide receiver core that includes Metcalf, Cooper, Woods, Austin and the second-year Roman Wilson (2024 third-round pick) would be one with a great deal of starting depth and one that's built to withstand injuries when they emerge."

Cooper is a proven commodity in the NFL with seven 1,000-yard seasons and four Pro Bowls under his belt. That's exactly the type of player the Steelers need to add on the outside across from Metcalf.

The concern with Cooper is that he might be on the decline. The veteran is coming off the worst season of his career and will turn 31 in just days.

Combatting that concern, not only did Cooper have an awful quarterback situation in Cleveland, he also had to learn a new offense midseason after the trade to the Buffalo Bills, and Cooper was dealing with a wrist injury to boot.

Cooper's lackluster season will bring down his price, which could lead to him being a steal if he isn't really on the down side of his career like many believe. Even if he is, Cooper could still amount to an upgrade for Pittsburgh.

The Steelers simply cannot mess around with this situation. If the wide receiver situation doesn't improve, Pittsburgh can't hope to have much more success than what was an ugly showing in 2024.

Cooper is just what the Steelers need, and Khan needs to get a deal done.
