The timing of the Micah Parsons trade couldn't have been much better for the Philadelphia Eagles.
It went down Thursday evening, a week before the Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys to open the 2025 NFL regular season.
Parsons is with the Green Bay Packers now, not a divisional foe for the Eagles.
Dallas did pick up a solid run stopper in Kenny Clark, but he's no Parsons.

The defending Super Bowl champions will surely want to get the season off to a solid start, especially in a divisional game.
If the Cowboys had found a way to sign Parsons by the end of this week, he likely could've been out there against the Eagles to mess things up for Philadelphia.
But now there's no Parsons, and there's also a Dallas team that might be reeling from losing one of its best couple of players.
The Eagles would've been favored in this game regardless.
Now, it'd take quite the inspired effort by the Cowboys to pull off an upset victory.

Philadelphia also gains a leg up for the entire season. The Cowboys with Parsons could've made a darkhorse run to compete with the Eagles and Commanders for the NFC East title.
Without Parsons? That seems like a lot taller of a task.
The Eagles will gladly take a divisional opponent that's worse off on the field heading into the season opener.
