A season ago, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs were on a collision course to meet in the Super Bowl.
This time around, both are now sitting at home, the Chiefs having missed the playoffs and the Eagles losing in the opening round.
Their only link now is a small transaction on Tuesday.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Eagles have signed RB Carson Steele to a reserve/futures contract that will bring him on board for the offseason. Steele spent portions of his first two NFL seasons with the Chiefs, including on the team that went to the Super Bowl.

Steele is still just 23 years old.
The 6-foot, 228-pound running back started his college career at Ball State before transferring to UCLA.
He was undrafted by the Chiefs in the 2024 draft class, but he quickly gained fans in his first training camp.

That got him into all 17 games as a rookie, rushing 56 times for 183 yards.
Steele was back with the Chiefs for 2025, but he didn't gain the same favor.
He was released on cut day in August, but he signed back with the Chiefs' practice squad. He spent the season there, not being elevated for any games.
Now, he's opted to look elsewhere to pursue his future playing time. It just so happens to be the team that beat the Chiefs in last year's Super Bowl.
