Eagles should target former AFC head coach as offensive coordinator to replace Kevin Patullo image

The Philadelphia Eagles are making a change at offensive coordinator, as the team is moving on from Kevin Patullo at the position after just one year, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Head coach Nick Sirianni is open to keeping Patullo, but wants a new leader for the offense.

"The phrasing is important here and in the Eagles’ statement. Kevin Patullo is not fired. There’s a chance he could remain on Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff, sources say," Garafolo said on X.

With the Eagles now having an opening at offensive coordinator, the team should look to target a former AFC head coach for the position.

Mike McDaniel was fired by the Miami Dolphins on January 8. McDaniel spent four seasons as the team's head coach, posting a 35-33 record with two playoff appearances.

Though McDaniel is receiving head coaching interest from teams, he's the top offensive coordinator candidate on the market, and Philadelphia should pursue him as Patullo's replacement.

McDaniel has the ability to maximize the Eagles' talent on offense, as we saw him lead one of the top offenses in football with the San Francisco 49ers in 2021 under Kyle Shanahan.

Philadelphia needs a new direction on offense and a fresh approach in the building. McDaniel would provide that and take the unit to the next level.
