Eagles-Seahawks trade pitch give Philly cornerback upgrade, sends 4th-round pick packing image

If the Philadelphia Eagles want to improve their chances of winning a second straight Super Bowl, they've got to address the cornerback position before the deadline.

Philly has two good cornerbacks in Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, but the boundary spot opposite Mitchell has been a major problem.

Adoree' Jackson and former fourth-round pick Kelee Ringo have struggled, and Jakorian Bennett, who was acquired to help the issue, is on injured reserve.

If the Eagles were to suffer an injury to either Mitchell or DeJean, they'd be in big, big trouble.

ESPN's Bill Barnwell has suggested a good idea for Philadelphia and it sees general manager Howie Roseman pulling off a trade with the Seattle Seahawks for Riq Woolen.

The proposal also has the Eagles jettisoning Ringo and swapping Day 3 picks with the Seahawks. Here's the full proposal and some thoughts from Barnwell:

  • Eagles get: CB Riq Woolen, 2026 fifth-round pick
  • Seahawks get: CB Kelee Ringo, 2026 fourth-round pick

Philly desperately needs a third cornerback to play on the outside across from Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, and though Woolen has struggled to match what was a sterling performance as a rookie, he's going to offer more upside than just about anybody the Eagles can acquire at the deadline.

Woolen keeps coming up as a trade candidate because of a report that said teams believe he could be made available at the deadline in the final year of his contract.

A former Pro Bowler, Woolen has apparently fallen out of favor with the team in recent years after his standout rookie campaign and appears to be expendable.

The former fifth-round pick has struggled in 2025, but his career numbers show he may very well be an upgrade over Ringo and Jackson. Woolen has surrendered a completion rate of 55.3% and a passer rating of 72.8 over 53 career contests.

This would be a strong deal for the Seahawks, also. Not only do they replenish their depth at cornerback with Ringo, but they also get a fourth-round pick, which is about the best they could hope for in a Woolen trade.

If given the opportunity to add Woolen, the Eagles should pounce, as chances are they won't be able to do any better than the 26-year-old, who would fit in nicely with Mitchell and DeJean and could thrive under Vic Fangio.
