Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis had the last laugh on Sunday after blocking a game-winning field goal and returning it 61 yards for a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams. Weighing 336 pounds, Davis became the heaviest player in NFL history to return a blocked kick 50-plus yards for a touchdown.
After the dramatic play, NFL insider Mike Garafolo asked Davis about the game-winning block and return. "It just comes down to the basics, the details," Davis said. "We knew he was going short and low. Just had to get our hands up. ... At the end of the day, balls on the ground, scoop a score. We practice it every Thursday. Got to do it."
Garafolo then highlighted Davis' impressive conditioning for a man his size, especially on the long touchdown run. Davis quipped, "Look, man, I ain't run that fast since my 40 (yard dash). So, I'm glad I got a touchdown, man."
According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Davis reached a top speed of 18.59 mph on the return, the fastest by a player over 330 pounds since 2017. His block and touchdown sealed a 33-26 Eagles victory.
