For the second straight week, the Philadelphia Eagles lulled their opponent (and a national viewing audience) to sleep defensively. It marked the second straight game in which the Eagles allowed less than 10 points, yielding just nine points to the Detroit Lions in a 16-9 win. This comes a week after defeating the Green Bay Packers 10-7. However, it didn't come without a cost on the offensive side of the ball.
The Eagles lost right tackle Lane Johnson in the first half of the game, which brought in Fred Johnson to play the rest of the way. Eagles fans will be seeing a good bit of the latter Johnson, as Ian Rapoport reports that the future Hall-of-Fame tackle will miss 4-6 weeks with a Lisfranc injury.
"Eagles OT Lane Johnson, one of the game’s best, suffered a Lisfranc sprain Sunday," Rapoport reports. "He’s out the next 4-6 weeks because of the foot injury, but will seek a second opinion and more tests. This likely lands him on IR, but belief is not season-ending."
This is certainly something that has affected the Eagles in the past, as they are 15-23 when Lane Johnson doesn't suit up. Philadelphia's passing game was already in a bad way, ranking 28th in passing yards per game. If more pressure gets to Jalen Hurts, the already anemic air attack will only suffer more.
