The Philadelphia Eagles already have major concerns at the cornerback position, but an injury update on cornerback Quinyon Mitchell only adds to them.
Mitchell exited the Week 6 contest against the New York Giants early with a hamstring injury and did not return to the game.
On Tuesday, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said he wasn't sure that the second-year cornerback would suit up in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings.
"Eagles DC Vic Fangio says it 'remains to be seen' whether Quinyon Mitchell will be available Sunday against the Vikings," ESPN's Tim McManus reported.
Mitchell is in the midst of another impressive season for the Eagles, as the former first-round pick has ceded a completion rate of 50% and a passer rating of 75.5, numbers that are even better than those from his stellar rookie campaign.
The problem for Philadelphia has been the guys lining up across from him and slot cornerback Cooper DeJean.
Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson have been bad, and the Eagles' last-ditch effort to improve the position before the start of the season, Jakorian Bennett, is on injured reserve.
If Mitchell can't go on Sunday, the Eagles will have to depend on both Jackson and Ringo, and that's a disastrous situation, especially when you consider how much the Eagles' pass-rush has struggled.
General manager Howie Roseman is reportedly on the lookout for help ahead of the trade deadline, but if that help doesn't come this week and Mitchell sits, the Eagles will be in a very tough spot against Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and the Vikes.
