Dallas Goedert trade compensation update hints at potential split from Eagles after NFL Draft image

Rumors continue to swirl around star tight end Dallas Goedert and his future with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Goedert — and his $11.7 million cap hit for 2025 — has reportedly been on the trade block for weeks, and when asked specifically about the ongoing situation, neither GM Howie Roseman nor head coach Nick Sirianni have said anything to shut down the rumor mill.

Per multiple NFL insiders, the Eagles are seeking a Day 3 draft pick in return for Goedert, preferably in the fourth round. The latest trade compensation update from Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports hints that a potential split between Goedert and the reigning Super Bowl champs is coming, either during or after this month’s draft.

Per Schultz, teams interested in trading for Goedert “believe Philadelphia would be open to future picks if they don’t receive 2025 draft capital.” In other words, the Eagles could move Goedert for a 2026 pick if they can’t find a trade partner before or during this year’s draft, which arrives on Thursday, April 24.

Goedert is seeking a contract extension, as his current deal is short on guaranteed money and is set to expire after the 2025 season. The Eagles have the option of extending Goedert themselves, a move that could significantly lower his cap hit for this season, but the price tag has likely gone up after Trey McBride’s record four-year, $76 million extension with the Arizona Cardinals.

Goedert just turned 30 and is fresh off a Super Bowl run. This could be his last chance to cash in on a lucrative, multi-year contract. With the way the Eagles have been operating to start the new league year, that next big contract is most likely to come elsewhere.
