The Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans are reportedly two teams interested in the services of former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll, but now they have added competition from the Buffalo Bills.
According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Titans and Eagles are just two teams "pushing hard" to hire Daboll as their offensive coordinator. She did not name the others, though.
Nevertheless, the Bills are now in the mix for Daboll, who has received a request to interview for Buffalo's head-coach vacancy, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"Bills requested a head coach interview with former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll, per source," Schefter wrote.
Daboll has received plenty of interest in this cycle, both for head-coach and offensive coordinator jobs.
The Titans interviewed him for their head-coach vacancy before giving it to Robert Saleh, but as Russini notes, Tennessee wants Daboll as its play-caller.
The Eagles have also interviewed Daboll to replace Kevin Patullo, and the Los Angeles Chargers spoke to him before reportedly landing on Mike McDaniel.
The interest in Daboll from the Bills is bad news for Tennessee and Philly. Daboll is almost certainly going to prefer a head-coach gig over being an offensive coordinator again, and that's especially true if the gig is Buffalo's.
If the Titans and Eagles want Daboll bad enough, they're now going to have to wait out the Bills' head-coach search, which could take weeks. In that time, the Titans and Eagles run the risk of losing out on other candidates they like.
Daboll had immense success as Buffalo's play-caller and managed to parlay that into the Giants head-coach job, where he failed miserably.
Despite that ugly tenure, we know Bills quarterback Josh Allen loves Daboll, and the former Giants head coach was hugely responsible for Allen becoming an elite quarterback in the NFL.
We'll see where he ultimately lands, but for now the Bills' interest in Daboll does complicate things for the Eagles' and Titans' offensive coordinator searches.
