History was made on "Sunday Night Football."

The Los Angeles Chargers' bout with the Pittsburgh Steelers was largely a dull affair, marked more by sacks and Aaron Rodgers miscues than strong play. Los Angeles was the more efficient side on the day, emerging as 25-10 victors behind a stifling defensive showing and timely scores from Ladd McConkey and Kimani Vidal.

With the game all but decided and mere moments left on the clock, the Chargers put the ball in one of their steadiest-ever talent's hands. Keenan Allen entered Sunday's joust one catch away from tying Antonio Gates' record for most grabs in franchise history. He took the achievement all for himself late in the fourth quarter, fielding a Justin Herbert toss and taking it upstream before falling to the ground.

Suffice to say, Allen's teammates were delighted, cloaking the veteran wideout in a sea of congratulations.

Allen's record-breaking reception might have not been the most eye-catching event to take place in Sunday night's game. But in a game bereft of highlights, Allen's was among the biggest standouts. And that image — of him wheeling off in celebration as the SoFi Stadium faithful serenaded him — will live on in Tinseltown lore for eternity. Not so bad for third-round pick.

11:04 p.m.:  Vidal punches it in from short-range! Los Angeles looks on its way to a momentous win!

10:59 p.m.:  McConkey comes through again, gobbling up 59 yards after reeling in a Herbert arrow. The Chargers are cruising at SoFi Stadium!

10:53 p.m.: TURNOVER ON DOWNS!  The Steelers got inside Pittsburgh's 10-yard line. But they come up short! Rodgers' attempt to find Metcalf in the back corner of the end zone goes wide as the Chargers regain possession!

10:50 p.m.:  After limping through the first three quarters, Pittsburgh is mercifully on the cusp of end zone. Can the Steelers punch it in and cut their deficit to one possession?

End of third quarter: Chargers 15, Steelers 3

10:45 p.m.: MISSED FIELD GOAL!  Dicker's attempt from 55 clanks off the iron to set the Steelers up close to midfield. Curious decision by Jim Harbaugh to trot the kicking team out while facing fourth-and-two inside Pittsburgh territory.

10:35 p.m.:  Another Steelers drive comes undone. It's been tough sledding for Rodgers and Co. Thus far.

10:30 p.m.: FIELD GOAL!  Another Chargers possession ends in a field goal, this one coming from 59 yards out.

10:19 p.m.:  Rodgers is dumped for another sack on third down! Another Steelers possession goes up in flames!

10:15 p.m.:  What a leap by Warren! He vaults over a defender en route to a first down! Maybe that will breathe some life into what has been an underwhelming display so far by the Steelers.

10:10 p.m.:  Alex Highsmith swarms Herbert to bring Herbert down behind the line of scrimmage. What looked a promising drive for Los Angeles ends in smoke.

10:05 p.m.:  We're back in action for the second half. The Chargers will start the half with possession of the ball.

End of second quarter: Chargers 12, Steelers 3

9:45 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN!  Herbert and McConkey connect for six! Impressive route-running for the second-year wideout, who displaced Jalen Rams ey with a feint before corralling Herbert's dart.

9:37 p.m.: INTERCEPTION!  Rodgers airmails D.K. Metcalf. The ball falls into rookie R.J. Mickens hands as Los Angeles takes over inside Pittsburgh territory.

9:28 p.m.:  Rodgers looked to have Calvin Austin open with a lengthy toss. However, Nikko Reed responded to Rodgers' dart with an impressive deflection, stretching wide to knock away Rodgers' effort. Los Angeles gets the ball back via punt.

9:26 p.m.:  Herbert underwent a brief bit of treatment on the sideline. Trainers cloaked both of his ankles in medical tape. He looked abit gimpy after being collected behind the line of scrimmage.

9:22 p.m.: FIELD GOAL!  The Chargers take the lead courtesy of Cameron Dicker's chip shot. They looked poised to grab even more points before their drive fizzled apart amid a steady pour of Steelers blitzes.

9:18 p.m.:  Kimani Vidal is starting to percolate ever so slightly. He's up to 24 yards on four carries. He's got Los Angeles inside the red zone.

9:12 p.m.: MISSED FIELD GOAL!  After breaching into Los Angeles territory, Boswell's short-range effort spurns the goalposts.

End of first quarter: Steelers 3, Chargers 2

9:02 p.m.:  The Steelers' attack is starting to find its rhythm. A pair of impressive Rodgers throws and a lengthy run Jaylen Warren run has Pittsburgh deep in Chargers territory to end the frame.

8:51 p.m.: SAFETY!  You don't see those every day! Khalil Mack bursts past the edge with a spin move before collecting Rodgers for a safety. He briefly jarred the ball loose, although Rodgers' quick thinking prevented that from being a touchdown for Los Angeles.

8:48 p.m.:  Los Angeles' offense stalls after recording surpassing the sticks for a first down. Pittsburgh can add to its advantage.

8:38 p.m.: FIELD GOAL!  Chris Boswell splits the uprights from long-range. Pittsburgh is on the board.

8:33 p.m.:  Pittsburgh's defense shows its mettle, holding the Chargers to one yard across three plays. Following a short punt, the Steelers will get the ball inside Los Angeles territory.

8:25 p.m.:  And we're off! The Bolts start with possession of the ball!

8:00 p.m.:  Aaron Rodgers leads the Steelers out on the field! Curiously enough, he embraced rapper-turned-NBC correspondent Snoop Dogg with one of sport's most everlasting gestures: the high-five.
