Packers vs. Lions results: Green Bay has two fourth-down TDs to give Dan Campbell, Lions taste of its own medicine image

JUMP TO:

The Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions duke it out in another classic Thanksgiving matchup. When the dust settled, the Packers were victorious, winning 31-24.

The Lions had a concern early as teammates rolled up on star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. He was sidelined with an ankle injury and did not return to the game. This allowed Jameson Williams to be featured in the passing attack. Williams finished with seven receptions for 144 yards and a touchdown.

The Packers were rolling throughout the game thanks to the arm of quarterback Jordan Love. He finished with 234 yards and four touchdowns. His top pass catcher this week was Dontayvion Wicks, who had six receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns.

The story of the game, outside of Love and Williams' big statistical days, was fourth-down calls. Detroit head coach Dan Campbell is known for his aggressive play-calling on fourth down. The Lions finished the game 0-2 on fourth down attempts, with both resulting in turnovers on downs in Green Bay territory. The Packers, however, finished 3-3. Two of the conversions went for touchdowns and the third was on the Packers' final drive of the game to seal the win.

Packers vs. Lions final updates, highlights from NFL Thanksgiving game

All times ET.

END OF GAME -- Packers 31, Lions 24

4:15 p.m. -- The Packers needed to drain the clock, and that is just what they did. Green Bay kept the ball on the ground and picked up the first downs they needed to seal the game.

FIELD GOAL -- Packers 31, Lions 24

4:04 p.m. -- Detroit needed to stop going for it on fourth down and missing. The Lions drove the field on a 13-play, 67-yard stretch. On fourth and goal from the 13, Campbell finally elected to kick, and Jake Bates punched through the 31-yard kick to put the pressure on the defense to get a stop.

Micah Parsons was a big part of the Packers' defense stop on the drive, tallying another sack. It was his 12th of the season, and he became the first player since sacks were recorded as an official stat in 1982 to have 12+ sacks in each of his first five seasons in the league.

3:46 p.m. -- The Packers had a chance to seal the game with a long drive. Instead, Green Bay had three plays that only took 1:48 off the clock before punting.

3:43 p.m. -- The fourth quarter began with the Lions down 10. Detroit has an 11 play 53-yard drive that took 5:54 off the clock that it is currently working against. The drive ended when the Lions were on the Packers' 21-yard line and went for it on fourth down and didn't get it, resulting in their second turnover on downs in the game.

TOUCHDOWN -- Packers 31, Lions 21

3:27 p.m. -- The Packers answered to push the lead back to 10. The drive was highlighted by a 14-yard run from Bo Melton, and Wicks had a 30-yard reception. Wicks wasn't done as Love found him for another score, the wide receiver's second and quarterback's fourth of the day.

TOUCHDOWN -- Packers 24, Lions 21

3:12 p.m. -- Detroit turned up the offense after Green Bay's quick touchdown. St. Brown was finally ruled out for the game, but that didn't slow them down. Goff began the drive with a 24-yard run and followed it up with a 13-yard pass to Montgomery. Montgomery then picked up 14 yards before Goff hit Isaac TeSlaa for a 17-yard score.

TOUCHDOWN -- Packers 24, Lions 14

3:05 p.m. -- The Packers got the ball and Jacobs didn't pick up any yards on first down. On the next play, Love nailed Christian Watson for a 51-yard touchdown.

3:00 p.m. -- The Lions come out of halftime still without St. Brown. Detroit continued its short-pass and run-oriented offense. The Lions faced fourth and three on the Packers' 47-yard line. Detroit head coach Dan Campbell elected to go for it with a Gibbs run up the middle. He lost two yards and the Lions opened the half with a turnover on downs.

END OF HALF -- Packers 17, Lions 14

2:33 p.m. -- The Packers attempted a pass, but it fell incomplete. After that, they decided just to take the game into halftime.

TOUCHDOWN -- Packers 17, Lions 14

2:30 p.m. -- After the score, the Lions were running out of time in the half. Detroit ran one play before the two minute warning. After, the Lions kept trying to lean on the run. Goff finally opened up the passing attack with a 25-yard completion to Williams. The wide receiver wasn't done. After avoiding a tackle, he weaved through the defense for the 22-yard score with 25 seconds left to go before halftime.

TOUCHDOWN -- Packers 17, Lions 7

2:17 p.m. -- It took a drive or two, but Love has come alive with his passes. After an incompletion to start the drive, he completed his next five passes, capped off by a 23-yard sling to tight end Luke Musgrave. A defensive penalty gave Green Bay the ball on the four-yard line on third down. Love ran ahead for a gain of three to set up a fourth-and-short. After a timeout, Love hit Doubs for the score.

TOUCHDOWN -- Packers 10, Lions 7

2:05 p.m. -- The Lions still don't have St. Brown back, and there has been no new update on his possible return. In St. Brown's absence, Jameson Williams was able to get into space for a 22-yard gain. Gibbs picked up 18 yards on a run.

Tom Kennedy, who was elevated from the practice squad came down with a 23-yard reception. The Lions got to the goal line and David Montgomery took the direct snap to punch in the three-yard score.

TOUCHDOWN -- Packers 10, Lions 0

1:50 p.m. -- The drive was set up by a huge 29-yard run by Josh Jacobs. The Packers used runs and short passes to get down to the 22-ard line. Facing fourth and three, Green Bay elected to go for it, and Love found Dontayvion Wicks for a 22-yard score as the wide receiver barely managed to get two feet in.

1:30 p.m. -- Detroit was able to get a first down on its next drive, but it still ended in a punt after five plays. The concern is that star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had his ankle rolled on by two teammates, and he went down. He was taken right to the locker room and was deemed questionable to return.

1:20 p.m. -- Green Bay had a three-and-out of its own. The Packers had a one-yard run, an incompletion and a four-yard pass that fell short of the sticks.

1:15 p.m. -- The Lions were unable to respond. Detroit had a three-and-out. Jahmyr Gibbs picked up two yards and Goff had two incompletions before they punted.

FIELD GOAL -- Packers 3, Lions 0

1:10 p.m. -- Green Bay's first drive ended in a field goal. Jordan Love found Christian Watson for a 17-yard gain., and then Josh Jacobs picked up 13 on the ground. After Green Bay had a fresh set of downs on the Detroit 27-yard line, Love had three straight incompletions to set up the field goal as the drive fizzled.

1 p.m. -- The Packers will be getting the ball first and we are underway following a great national anthem from CeCe Winans.

12:45 p.m. -- It is 12:45 p.m., and the game hasn't started. For avid Thanksgiving football fans you may be wondering what's going on. In past years, the games have started at 12:30, but the NFL pushed it back a half hour to match the more typical Sunday schedule.

12:30 p.m. -- The Packers will be wearing white jerseys with yellow helmets and yellow pants.

The Lions will counter with blue jerseys, silver helmet and silver pants.

12:20 p.m. -- This is a classic Thanksgiving matchup. The Packers and Lions have played each other 22 times on Thanksgiving, making the 2025 matchup the 23rd edition of the series. This is the most common Thanksgiving matchup in NFL history. Currently, the Lions lead the series 12-9-1.

12:08 p.m. -- Inactives for both teams have been released.
