We have made it through five weeks of the NFL season. While fantasy football managers are settling into the season and getting used to the rhythm, those in Survivor pools are adapting to a shrinking number of teams to choose from.
In this type of contest, you will pick just one team to win each week, and it is simple:
- Your goal is to pick one winner each week of the season correctly. If you pick correctly and your chosen team wins, you are safe.
- If your chosen team loses, you are either outright eliminated or you have a significant disadvantage the rest of the season, depending on the platform.
- To make the contest even trickier, once you use a team, you cannot select them again. So, whatever team you used for your survivor pool in Week 1, Week 2, and all preceding weeks will eventually be off limits for the rest of the year. That makes each selection not only important for that week, but you have to look forward and see if that team will have a better matchup in the future that you're okay missing out on.

Best NFL Survivor Pick Week 6
Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets
The Jets are the lone winless team remaining in the NFL. New York has looked bad with Aaron Glenn at the helm and hasn't been able to play a full game of football, letting late leads slip away. The Jets are coming off a 37-22 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Justin Fields and his rushing ability could cause problems for the Broncos' defense, but Denver is coming off a win against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.
This game will be held in London, so there is some concern that the travel may throw off players, but not enough to change the pick.
Star cornerback Patrick Surtain II will likely be shadowing Garrett Wilson all game, and New York will be forced to find offense from another source, which should prove too tall of a task, helping Denver to a win.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns
The Steelers are coming off a bye and returning home from a big win over the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin in Week 4. Pittsburgh now has to run the gauntlet of 13 games in a row, and it remains to be seen how quarterback Aaron Rodgers will fare. That journey starts this weekend with Myles Garrett looking to dominate the Steelers' offensive line and get to Rodgers early and often.
Rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel made his first career start in Week 5, but the Browns lost to the Vikings 21-17 in London. With a preseason trade of Kenny Pickett and the Week 6 trade of Joe Flacco, Cleveland no longer has a veteran presence in the quarterback room outside of practice squad QB Bailey Zappe, who is in his fourth season.
Gabriel had to deal with a large international crowd in Week 5, but now he has to go into Acrisure Stadium to face the Steelers in the first taste of that rivalry. Even if Garrett terrorizes the Steelers' offensive line, Pittsburgh should come away with a win.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Arizona Cardinals
The Colts will be at home in Week 6 with an unprecedented 4-1 record. After taking their first loss of the season in Week 4, Indianapolis responded with a blowout win, beating the Las Vegas Raiders 40-6.
The Arizona Cardinals made headlines for all the wrong reasons in Week 5. They looked like they were rolling to a win over the Tennessee Titans, but had three key mishaps from Kyler Murray getting hit in the helmet by a snap, Emari Demercado cruising to a 72-yard touchdown, but fumbling at the one-yard line, and the ball going out the back of the endzone.
The pressure is on for Arizona this week, and they haven't responded well so far this season. Indianapolis should stay hot at home, and come away with another win.

Green Bay Packers vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Packers are coming off a bye week and should be well rested. The Bengals determined that Jake Browning wasn't a sufficient replacement for the injured Joe Burrow, so they traded for former Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco. Cleveland had replaced him with rookie Dillon Gabriel, but he may have been benched because Cincinnati had reached out with interest. Still, the veteran should be a slight upgrade over Browning, but not by much on paper.
The Packers are going to be a popular choice coming off a bye in what many would consider an easy matchup. This game, with the addition of Flacco, just feels like one that could stay close and then Flacco heaves a ball to Ja'Marr Chase, who makes a star play like he can, and the Bengals end up winning. Even if it isn't likely to happen, it is a sufficient possibility, given the circumstances, to avoid.
