POWER RANKINGS: Patriots jump Rams at No. 1; Eagles, Chiefs keep fading

AFC

1. New England Patriots 11-2 (first place, AFC East)

The Patriots, who have their bye in Week 14, have one more win than the Broncos, giving them a half-game lead for the top seed. They lead the Bills by 2.5 games in the division race.

2. Denver Broncos 10-2 (first place, AFC West)

The Broncos will look to beat the Raiders in Week 14 to make up the half-game on the Patriots. That would give them No. 1 with the conference-record tiebreaker (7-2 vs. 6-2). They go into Sunday leading the division by two games over the Chargers.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars 8-4 (first place, AFC South)

The Jaguars took back the division lead by the common-games tiebreaker over the Colts in Week 13. They will try to go up a full game and a head-to-head tiebreaker by beating the Colts at home in Week 14.

4. Baltimore Ravens 6-6 (first place, AFC North)

The Ravens still have the division lead over the Steelers because of the common-games tiebreaker. They also will try to go up a full game and a head-to-head tiebreaker by beating the Steelers at home in Week 14.

5. Los Angeles Chargers 8-4 (second place, AFC West)

The Chargers are two games behind the Broncos and hold a top wild-card spot with the conference-record tiebreaker (7-2 vs. 6-3) over both the Colts and Bills going into their Monday night non-conference game vs. The Eagles.

6. Indianapolis Colts 8-4 (second place, AFC South)

The Colts will look take back first place by beating the Jaguars on the road in Week 14. They also need to win to make sure they stay at least a game ahead of the third-place Texans.

7. Buffalo Bills 8-4 (second place, AFC East)

The Bills would shrink the Patriots lead to two games with a win over the Bengals in Week 14 and further strengthen their favorable wild-card position.

Who's in the hunt?

8. Houston Texans (7-5)
9. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-6)
10. Kansas City Chiefs (6-6)
11. Miami Dolphins (5-7)
12. Cincinnati Bengals (4-8)

The Texans will hope to beat the Chiefs and get closer to either the Colts or Jaguars in the division race. They also could keep putting pressure on the Bills. The Steelers will take back first place with a win over the Ravens. The Chiefs need to beat the Texans to improve their fading wild-card chances.

Who's left?

13. New York Jets (3-9)
14. Cleveland Browns (3-9)
15. Las Vegas Raiders (2-10)
16. Tennessee Titans (1-11)

The Raiders and Titans were the first of these teams eliminated in Week 13. The Jets and Browns are on the brink of joining them in Week 14.

NFC

1. Chicago Bears 9-3 (first place, NFC North)

The Bears lead the division by a half-game over Packers and two games over the Lions. They lead the Rams for the NFC top seed by a conference-record tiebreaker (6-2 vs. 4-3). They need to beat the Packers in Green Bay to keep the lead after Week 14.

2. Los Angeles Rams 9-3 (first place, NFC West)

The Rams fell behind the Bears but still lead the Eagles, to whom they lost, by one game in the race for the top seed. Their division lead is down to a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Seahawks and a half-game over the 49ers.

3. Philadelphia Eagles 8-4 (first place, NFC East)

The Eagles saw their division lead over the Cowboys to two games. They will hope to beat the Chargers to either make up ground or move up on Monday night.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-5 (first place, NFC South)

The Buccaneers are up a half-game and a division-record tiebreaker on the Panthers. They will try to expand the lead to a full game by beating the Saints while the Panthers are on bye.

5. Seattle Seahawks 9-3 (second place, NFC West)

The Seahawks have the same record as the Rams ahead of their Week 14 game at the Falcons. They also are a half-game ahead of the third-place 49ers, who have a bye.

6. Green Bay Packers 8-3-1 (second place, NFC North)

The Packers trail the Bears by a half-game because of that tie. They will try to jump the Bears when they play them in Green Bay on Sunday.

7. San Francisco 49ers 9-4 (third place, NFC West)

The 49ers seem back on track to at least earn a wild card spot behind the Rams, who they now trail by only a half-game after beating the Browns last Sunday.

Who's in the hunt?

8. Detroit Lions 8-5
9. Dallas Cowboys 6-6-1
10. Carolina Panthers 7-6
11. Atlanta Falcons 4-8
12. Minnesota Vikings 4-8
14. Washington Commanders 3-9

The Lions improved their wild-card and NFC North-winning chances by beating the Cowboys on Thursday night, while the Cowboys are now hanging on by a thread in the NFC East race, their only legitimate path to make the playoffs. Only the Panthers have a fair shot here otherwise, also through the division route.

Who's left?

13. Arizona Cardinals 3-9
15. New Orleans Saints 2-10
16. New York Giants 2-11

All these teams have been eliminated from playoff contention after Week 13.
