A whirlwind first two days of the 2018 NFL Draft is in the books, with the Cleveland Browns surprising many on Thursday by selecting Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield first overall and then taking Ohio State defensive back Denzel Ward three picks later; the Edmunds brothers from Virginia Tech -- Tremaine and Terrell -- becoming the first siblings chosen in the same first round; quarterbacks Sam Darnold (Jets), Josh Allen (Bills) and Josh Rosen (Cardinals) all becoming Top Ten picks; and the Baltimore Ravens swinging a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to select QB Lamar Jackson with the final pick of the first round.

Day 2 got underway Friday with the Browns going for a swing offensive lineman in Austin Corbett from Nevada with the first pick of the second round, then following that up with the selection of running back Nick Chubb two picks later. In between those opening selections, the New York Giants grabbed UTEP's Will Hernandez with a view to shoring up the right guard position.

From a Canadian perspective, the biggest news of Friday came in the third round, when Toronto-area native Nathan Shepherd was taken 72nd overall by the New York Jets. The 24-year-old defensive lineman has an intriguing story, and the Jets feel that he has the maturity and life experience to step up to the NFL level.

Saturday's Day 3 sees rounds 4-7 take place, which ensures a flurry of activity as teams look to uncover potential gems who could surprise when given a chance.
