Micah Parsons injury update: Packers star briefly exits game vs. Cowboys with apparent back injury image

Those hoping to see fireworks during Micah Parsons' return game against the Dallas Cowboys were left disappointed. The Green Bay Packers star was expected to make a big mark in his first game back at AT&T Stadium after being traded ahead of the regular season.

However, Parsons appeared to suffer a back injury in the third quarter of the contest, grinding his homecoming to a sudden halt.

Here's what you need to know.

Micah Parsons injury update

The Green Bay star exited Sunday night's contest deep in the third quarter. The injury appeared to occur while Parsons was attempting to corral Javonte Williams in the open field.

Parsons collided with a teammate before landing hard on his lower back. As he returned to the sideline, he was caught holding his lower back. NBC's Melissa Stark reported that he was briefly taken into the medical tent and examined for a concussion.

Parsons dealt with back trouble throughout the preseason, missing each of Dallas' three games as a result of the ailment. He's played in every game since joining the Packers, although he played limited snaps in Green Bay's Week 1 win over the Lions.

Parsons watched on from the sidelines as the Cowboys scored a go-ahead touchdown. He appeared frustrated with the play, stretching his arms in exasperation after exiting the medical tent.

He returned to the field in the fourth quarter.
