Indiana HS RB Myles McLaughlin ends his pursuit of Derrick Henry’s national high school rushing record image

Myles McLaughlin's storied high school football career is done.

In the end, the superstar RB from Knox (Indiana) came up just a bit short of Derrick Henry's national high school rushing record.

That's nothing to be ashamed of. Henry put up numbers in high school that seemed like they would never be matched.

The Ravens' star runner recently said he wanted McLaughlin to break his mark, and McLaughlin made a good run at it.

In the end, McLaughlin came up 363 yards short of Henry.

The final tally goes 12,124 yards for Henry and 11,761 yards for McLaughlin.

Henry had 208 more carries in his high school career, so that more than evens out for what McLaughlin didn't quite reach.

McLaughlin did outdo Henry in touchdowns, running for 174 compared to Henry's 153.

This season, McLaughlin ran for more than 4,800 yards, setting the national single-season record. He also set the single-season record for rushing touchdowns.

McLaughlin is a 3-star recruit on 247Sports with offers from Ball State and Murray State.

He may not be destined for a future like Henry. But in Knox and the surrounding areas, no one will ever forget McLaughlin's name. He had a career unlike almost any other in the history of high school football.
