7 fastest players in the NFL in Week 10: How Patriots landed top three spots according to Next Gen Stats image

The New England Patriots had four plays of at least 50 yards in their statement win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. What made it possible? Pure speed.

An offense that was one of the NFL's most difficult to watch during much of the post-Tom Brady years has turned a corner in 2025, and Sunday's win in Tampa Bay highlighted just how much has changed, with rookies TreVeyon Henderson and Kyle Williams showing off their wheels on touchdowns.

If Week 10 is any indication, AFC defenses are going to have a hard time keeping up with the Patriots down the stretch while NFC defenses could struggle to keep pace with the Detroit Lions now that Dan Campbell has grabbed control of play-calling duties.

Here's a look at the seven fastest plays from Week 10 in the NFL.

All speeds courtesy of Next Gen Stats.

1. TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Patriots (22.01 mph)

TreVeyon Henderson

  • Top speed: 22.01 mph
  • Play type: 55-yard touchdown run

The Patriots were happy to go to halftime with a 14-10 lead on the road against the NFC South leaders, but they took control of the game when the rookie Henderson broke free for a 55-yard touchdown run to extend the advantage to two possessions.

Depending on how Henderson's career turns out, that run may be viewed as the turning point — the second-round pick played a limited role over the first half of the season, battling Terrell Jennings for touches behind Rhamondre Stevenson, but injuries opened the door for a role on Sunday, and Henderson took full advantage by becoming just the fourth player this season to reach 22 mph.

2. Kyle Williams, WR, Patriots (21.78 mph)

Kyle Williams

  • Top speed: 21.78 mph
  • Play type: 72-yard touchdown reception

It might not be fair to call third-round rookie Kyle Williams a disappointment so early in his NFL career, but he entered Sunday with just two catches and 20 receiving yards through nine games. That all changed in an instant when Drake Maye hit Williams in stride for what would be a 72-yard touchdown to even the score at seven in the final seconds of the first quarter. Williams turned on the jets, hitting 21.78 mph and flashing the speed that helped make him a legitimate NFL prospect at Washington State.

T-3. TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Patriots (21.38 mph)

TreVeyon Henderson

  • Top speed: 21.38 mph
  • Play type: 69-yard touchdown reception

TreVeyon Henderson had the third-fastest top speed of Week 10 on his 69-yard touchdown run that effectively sealed a Patriots win on Sunday, but it wasn't even his own top speed of the day. That's what kind of game it was for the rookie, who went from a backup competing for touches to 150 scrimmage yards and a pair of touchdowns in a critical game.

Henderson broke free from a potential tackle late in the fourth quarter, sprinted down the sideline and even took a look toward coach Mike Vrabel to confirm he should score rather than slide before the end zone. Henderson scored, and he cemented his case for a featured role going forward.

T-3. Jameson Williams, WR, Lions (21.38 MPH)

  • Top speed: 21.38 mph
  • Play type: 41-yard reception

What a day it was for the Lions, who hung 44 points on the Washington Commanders with Dan Campbell taking over play-calling duties from OC John Morton. The play-calling change and the ineptitude of the Commanders' defense were factors in the offensive explosion, but pure speed matters, too. Jameson Williams certainly flashed it, topping out at 21.38 mph on a 41-yard reception on the second play of a third quarter drive that would end in a field goal for Detroit. Williams finished the day with a season-high 119 yards plus a touchdown.

5. Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions (21.11 MPH)

  • Top speed: 21.11 mph
  • Play type: 43-yard touchdown run

Already one of four players to touch 22 mph this season, Jahmyr Gibbs let Williams have the shine by staying at 21.11 mph on a 43-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's blowout. Some might have wondered why Gibbs was still in the game at all with the Lions up by three possessions, but the third-year running back officially put it to bed when he let his blockers set up the play and darted down the right sideline to extend Detroit's lead to 25. Gibbs totaled 172 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

6. Emari Demercado, RB, Cardinals (20.97 MPH)

  • Top speed: 20.97 mph
  • Play type: 55-yard run

Sunday was not a day to remember for the Arizona Cardinals, who fell behind 35-0 before finding some momentum with the game already out of reach, but Emari Demercado nearly touched 21 mph on a 55-yard run that jumpstarted a fourth quarter touchdown drive. Five plays later, Jacoby Brissett hit Marvin Harrison Jr. For a touchdown to pull back within 19 points of the Seahawks. Demercado was otherwise used sparingly in the running game, earning only four carries as the Cardinals tried to pass their way back into the game.

7. De'Von Achane, RB, Dolphins (20.72 MPH)

  • Top speed: 20.72 mph
  • Play type: 59-yard touchdown run

It's been a difficult season for the Miami Dolphins, but De'Von Achane let out plenty of frustration with a 59-yard touchdown run that effectively ended any hopes of a Buffalo Bills comeback in Week 10's biggest upset. With the Bills trailing by 10 and trying to get the Dolphins off the field in the middle of the fourth quarter, Achane snuck through a hole in the defense and sprinted past Buffalo defenders to extend Miami's lead to 17. Achane would add one more long touchdown to officially ice the game and finished the day with 215 scrimmage yards.
