The stage is set for Sunday as the Buccaneers (0-0) and Falcons (0-0) kick off their seasons in a classic NFC South showdown.

Atlanta has had the upper hand lately, winning four of the last five meetings in the rivalry, including a clean sweep in 2024. The Falcons edged out a 36-30 overtime thriller at home on October 3 before sneaking out another nail-biter on the road less than a month later.

The two sides split in 2023, but before that, Tampa Bay had enjoyed a five-game win streak over Atlanta that started back in 2019. This rivalry, dating to 1977 when the Falcons blanked the Bucs 17-0, has seen its fair share of drama—six overtime battles and counting.

For Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield remains the man to watch. Last season, he ranked second in touchdown passes, third in passing yards, and fourth in passer rating across the league. Against Atlanta specifically, he’s been lights out—posting 13 touchdowns to just three interceptions and a 105.2 rating in five starts.
