Dolphins' Quinn Ewers breaks silence on NFL Draft slide after Texas decision image

Quinn Ewers would've never thought he'd fall all the way to the seventh round.

The Texas star QB had another year of eligibility remaining. He could've transferred almost anywhere in the country for a big NIL contract.

But he came to the NFL Draft, where the Miami Dolphins picked him in the final round.

Ewers recently spoke to ESPN to share his thoughts on his latest journey.

"I just didn't know what was going on," Ewers said. "But, I mean, it was nice [to get drafted], because at one point I'm like, 'I'm not even going to get drafted. I'm going to go undrafted.'"

Ewers didn't see it coming.

"It was very unexpected, and I think that the toughest part about it is just the amount of unexpected occurrences there were," he said. "But I'm glad that I ended up where I ended up. To go as late as I did, I'm glad it's a good spot."

The Ewers slide flew under the radar given the Shedeur Sanders free fall.

But it's at least a few rounds later than most expected Ewers to go.

He'll get a real chance to win a job in Miami, at least.

And if Tua Tagovailoa's injury troubles persist, Ewers could see the field sooner rather than later.

His draft pedigree will only matter so much. Now it's time for him to seize his opportunity.
