The NFL just dropped a new promo, but instead of everyone talking about the Chargers and Chiefs, all eyes went straight to MrBeast and one wild line.
On Sept. 3, a promotional clip featuring MrBeast, IShowSpeed, Sketch and Dude Perfect went live to hype the Sept. 5 Week 1 matchup streaming exclusively on YouTube. In the middle of the video, MrBeast casually claimed, “I figured, why not just buy the entire NFL?”
Cue the chaos.

Why NFL fans thought MrBeast video might be real
The internet immediately lost it. Posts poured in across X as people tried to figure out if MrBeast had actually done it.
“This man just bought the NFL before I could buy groceries,” one fan joked.
Another added, “If MrBeast owns the NFL, Super Bowl tickets better come with free Lamborghinis.”
Memes of Roger Goodell handing over league papers started flying around.
A Cowboys fan even tweeted, “Does this mean we can finally win now, or nah?”
It wasn’t just the delivery. MrBeast has a history of blending stunts with reality.
Back in 2023, he signed a 48-hour contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a video, which made headlines everywhere. Add in his reputation for giving away houses, islands and mountains of cash, and people were ready to believe anything.

Did MrBeast buy the NFL?
Of course, MrBeast didn’t actually buy the NFL. The line was part of a campaign promoting YouTube’s exclusive broadcast rights for the Chargers vs. Chiefs game.
The league leaned into internet culture by pulling in creators like MrBeast, IShowSpeed and Dude Perfect to make the promo feel bigger than a standard commercial.
But if the goal was to get people talking, mission accomplished. For a few hours, the world debated whether the NFL had a new billionaire owner with a YouTube channel.

What if MrBeast really owned the NFL?
Imagine a league where every touchdown came with a briefcase full of cash, halftime shows turned into live challenges and the MVP got handed a brand-new private island instead of a trophy. Coaches might get slimed after losses, and every fan leaving the stadium could walk out with a brand-new car.
No, MrBeast doesn’t own the NFL. But judging by the reaction online, a lot of fans wouldn’t mind if he did.
