Dave Portnoy's Tony Romo criticism puts Fox's Greg Olsen on the spot after rough CBS broadcast image

Tony Romo has come under criticism from many directions following the CBS broadcast of Bills-Jaguars on Sunday.

The color commentator, formerly the Dallas Cowboys QB, came under fire for multiple portions of his call.

Dave Portnoy joined in on the critiques, too, in a pretty harsh way.

It came in the context of Portnoy speaking with Fox's Greg Olsen on FS1 on Monday.

At the end of the segment, Portnoy said this to Olsen:

“Greg, your stock keeps going up,” Portnoy told Olsen. “There’s a guy on the other network… he looks like he’s on drugs or something when he’s calling games. Your stock is going up. So, congrats for that.”

Olsen is the No. 2 color commentator for Fox. He was first-string before Fox hired Tom Brady for the 2024 season, and Brady became the No. 1 and bumped Olsen down a spot.

The assumption is that sometime, Olsen will become a No. 1 with some broadcaster at some point again.

Olsen did well not taking Portnoy's bait and just bidding the FS1 broadcast farewell on Monday rather than adding to the flame.

After Olsen signed off, Portnoy added to his colleagues:

“He didn’t say it, I said it. I mean, come on. What was Romo talking about? Tony Romo started that game off with the most nonsensical rant I ever heard.”

There has been chatter about whether Romo's spot with CBS has lost security after the call.

He'll get two more broadcasts this season, the Divisional Round and the AFC Championship Game, to try and earn a bit of positive feedback.
