Fantasy football managers who rostered Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton face a tough blow with his ankle injury. Hampton was placed on injured reserve on Monday and is expected to miss at least four weeks.
With Hampton sidelined, fantasy football owners searching for a replacement don't need to look far. The answer lies within the Chargers' own backfield. The option is Hassan Haskins.
On Tuesday's edition of ESPN's Fantasy Focus, Field Yates said:
“I think Hassan Haskins stands to get much of the first and second down work,” Yates said. “He’ll be the power back. You guys may recall last year there was a game in which Hassan Haskins got goal line work. ... I think, assuming no major move this week, Haskins has the best chance to lead the team in carries.”
Yates pointed out that Kimani Vidal will serve as a "change-of-pace" back and contribute in the passing game. He stressed that fantasy owners should prioritize adding Haskins, predicting he could see as many as 18 carries in Week 6.
ESPN's Stephania Bell added to the positive outlook for Haskins: “Harbaugh likes him. There’s a Michigan connection.”
She mentioned that while there's buzz around Vidal, Harbaugh clearly favors Haskins as his primary back.
Hampton's injury leaves a void for fantasy owners, but Haskins offers a waiver wire solution. Do you need another reason? Here it is: The Chargers are facing the struggling 1-4 Miami Dolphins in Week 6.
Fantasy managers... act quickly to secure him for your rosters.
