Sean Payton's first preseason with the Broncos concludes Saturday against the Rams, a team with whom both he and Russell Wilson are extremely familiar.

The last tune-up before the Broncos open the regular season against the Raiders and the Rams start Week 1 against the Seahawks will take place at Mile High Stadium in Denver. Wilson has seen action in both games, getting more reps in Week 1 against the Cardinals.

Aaron Donald will not practice or play against the Broncos this week, and Brett Rypien and Stetson Bennett have handled quarterback reps for Los Angeles. The Rams seem comfortable riding their backups into the regular season before handing the reins to Matthew Stafford.

Both of these teams had disappointing 2022 seasons, with the Broncos failing to muster up much offense at all throughout the regular season and the Rams struggling with injuries during the Super Bowl hangover to end all Super Bowl hangovers. That hasn't adjusted the expectations for the 2023 season, with both teams hoping to take a step forward.
