JUMP TO:

JJ McCarthy's first NFL game was one to remember.

The Vikings QB endured a challenging first three quarters against the Vikings, struggling to find his form against the Bears' stout defense.

In the fourth quarter, though, he found life, producing three scores in 15 minutes to power Minnesota's rally. The Vikings claimed a 27-24 on "Monday Night Football."

Caleb Williams looked the better of the two gunslingers to start the fixture, completing each of his first 10 passes and traipsing into the end zone to open up the game's scoring.

Both Chicago and Minnesota's defenses held firm as the match wore on. A McCarthy pick-six set the Vikings back to start the second half. But he made magic happen in the fourth, becoming the second Vikings gunslinger to record multiple touchdowns in his debut.

Bears vs. Vikings live updates, highlights from 'Monday Night Football'

(All times Eastern)

End of fourth quarter: Vikings 27, Bears 24

11:30 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Williams tacks on another score. This one might be purely cosmetic at this point.

Vikings 27, Bears 24

11:15 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! McCarthy does it again! He races in the end zone from short-range to push Minnesota's advantage to 10!

Vikings 27, Bears 17

11:00 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Minnesota takes the lead! McCarthy finds Aaron Jones from distance as the Vikings go out in front for the first time today!

Vikings 20, Bears 17

10:45 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! McCarthy is in the end zone for the first time! It had to be on a pass directed to Justin Jefferson! The Michigan alum hits Jefferson for a 13-yard score to cut into Chicago's advantage! The Vikings missed out on their two-point conversion, so Chicago's lead stands at five.

Bears 17, Vikings 12

End of third quarter: Bears 17, Vikings 6

10:30 p.m.: The Bears' attack has ground to a halt over the past two quarters, struggling to work its way up the field. The longer the Vikings hang in this one, the better their chances seem of mounting a comeback.

9:50 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! The Bears add to their lead, wit Nahshon Wright plucking an errant McCarthy throw out of the sky and taking it 74 yards to the house!

Bears 17, Vikings 6

End of second quarter: Bears 10, Vikings 6

9:30 p.m.: The Bears have been the better of the two sides through the first two quarters. While they haven't been able to put a ton of distance in their advantage, they've moved the ball a lot more comfortably than their adversaries.

8:29 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Williams scampers in from nine yards in to record his first-career NFL rushing touchdown. What a drive by the sophomore, who went 6/6 for 51 yards on his first possession of the year.

Bears 7, Vikings 0

8:25 p.m.: Caleb Williams is looking steady thus far, rolling out right before rifling an off-balance toss to Rome Odunze to move the Bears into the red zone.

8:20 p.m.: And we're off! The Bears and Vikings' clash is underway!

7:10 p.m.: Missing in action for the Vikings is star offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw, while the Bears will be without All-Pro cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

6:30 p.m.: Soldier Field's turf conditions have gotten a lot of attention ahead of tonight's kickoff. Here's a look at how the grass is holding up at Chicago's home ground.

6:15 p.m.: The Bears have also embraced change in recent months, albeit for a different reason. Ben Johnson and Co. will look to make their mark with a solid Week 1 display tonight.

5:45 p.m.: The Vikings will have a new-look wide receiver corps greeting its fanbase to start the 2025 season, with Jordan Addison sat on the sidelines as a result of suspension. Adam Thielen and Jalen Nailor will be tasked with picking up the slack alongside standout wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

5:30 p.m.: We're about three hours from the formal start to JJ McCarthy's professional career. Only time will tell how fruitful his time under the spotlight will be.
