The Bears and Colts are kindred spirits in a way, as both teams try to find their way to the next step.

For Chicago, that meant doubling down on Justin Fields, who Ryan Pace and the Bears committed to surrounding with more talent this season after getting the No. 1 overall pick and trading it to the Panthers for D.J. Moore. For the Colts, the future lies in the hands of Anthony Richardson, the Florida product who rocketed up draft boards with his otherworldly athleticism.

The Colts announced Richardson will be the Week 1 starter this week, so things are more or less set there. The big question remaining is at running back, where Jonathan Taylor's status remains obscured amid a contract dispute.

Fields and Richardson likely won't see many -- if any -- reps this week. So expect a defensive showcase as down-ticket players try to leave their mark.
