The 2026 NFL playoffs continue on Sunday, Jan. 11, with a triple-header of games. The second game of the afternoon will see the San Francisco 49ers travelling across the country to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC battle.
The 49ers had a shot at the No. 1 seed in the conference and a bye for the wild-card round. San Francisco lost to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18, and 49ers secured the No. 5 seed in the NFC in defeat. Outside of the season-ending loss, San Francisco had won its last six games.
The Eagles cruised to an NFC East title with an 11-6 regular season record. The divisional crown cemented Philadelphia as a top-four seed, and the Eagles earned the No. 3 seed, guaranteeing them home-field advantage at least in the wild-card round.
Philadelphia had a tumultuous end to the season. The Eagles had their bye week in Week 9 and went 5-4 down the stretch. Philadelphia played backups in Week 18 to rest its starters and lost 24-17 to the Washington Commanders.
