Will Nick Folk retire after 2025? Insider reveals Jets' kickers' plan for NFL future image

The New York Jets in 2025 have been a major disappointment. Unlike the Tennessee Titans or Cleveland Browns, who have the same 3-12 record, the Jets don't have much to look forward to every week.

But, if there was one huge positive from this season, it would be the late-career run that kicker Nick Folk is on. The 41-year-old, after 18 seasons in the NFL, is having one of the best years of his career.

Folk has become beloved in New York after just one season, but will he be returning to the Jets or the NFL in 2026? ESPN insider Rich Cimini revealed the Jets' kickers' plan for the future, and how he's going to make a retirement decision.

"Folk, 41, is having an excellent year," Cimini writes, "but he will talk it over with his family before deciding whether to continue his career."

Folk returning for another season would be welcomed by Aaron Glenn and the Jets. While the Jets are 3-12 and have little to cheer for this season, Folk has been a huge positive.

On his 28 field goal attempts this season, Folk has made 27, with his lone miss coming from beyond 50 yards. He's made a long of 58 yards this season, which is the longest field goal he's made in his 18-year career.

His 96.4 field goal percentage is one of the best marks of his career, only bested by his NFL-leading 96.7 in 2023 with the Tennessee Titans.

After years of inconsistency, Folk has turned into one of the more automatic kickers in the NFL in his late-career seasons. He's also 100 percent on PATs, further highlighting just how great of a year he's having.

While he's 41 years old and has been in the NFL for nearly two decades, the Jets would surely be open to bringing him back for another season in 2026 if he doesn't retire.

But, for now, no decision will be made. He's planning to talk things over with his family before deciding whether to retire or not.

With how great he's been, he could surely find a team to join, even if not the Jets, in 2026. But that future is up in the air, as the beloved 41-year-old kicker is contemplating retirement after the 2025 season.
