One of the more underrated aspects of the Sauce Gardner trade was the New York Jets' addition of wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.

Of course, the two first-round picks were huge, but Mitchell is only in his second season in the NFL and was a former second-round pick out of Texas in 2024.

Mitchell had a frustrating first game with the Jets, where he was able to get open occasionally but was plagued by errant throws and drops. Now, he has to build up a rapport with a new quarterback.

Adonai Mitchell talks Jets quarterback change

After the Jets benched Justin Fields for veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, Mitchell spoke to the press about the challenges of a quarterback switch midseason.

"This happened in my first year playing with two different quarterbacks. We just watch as much film and get in as much extra work as we can to smooth out the wrinkles," Mitchell said via Jet X Factor's Nick Faria.

"The coaches are helping me out. As far as getting extra work in, putting that work with the quarterback, it’s been pretty smooth coming in."

Mitchell will have to develop some chemistry with Taylor soon. With star Garrett Wilson out for the foreseeable future, Mitchell and other new addition John Metchie have filled in as New York's top pass-catching options.

They'll both have ample opportunity to prove themselves as reliable players down the stretch in 2025, and show that they deserve to be a part of the team's future.
