For the second straight week, the New York Jets will be without their top wide receiver, Garrett Wilson.
After returning from injury in Week 10, Wilson immediately re-injured his knee that had kept him sidelined for the two games prior.
Then, for the first time in his career, the Jets placed Wilson on injured reserve, which meant he would have to sit out at least four games in total.
Here's what we know about Wilson's prospects of returning in the near future.
When is Garrett Wilson coming back?
Because of his injured reserve stint, the earliest Wilson can return is in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, although that doesn't mean it'll actually happen.
According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, the initial expectation was that Wilson would miss three to four weeks with his knee injury, so clearly there's a good shot he comes back when eligible in Week 15.
"Citing a source, ESPN reported Monday that Wilson would miss at least three to four weeks," Cimini wrote on Nov. 13.
While it looks like Wilson will be back before the end of the season, the Jets will have to weigh if it's even worth it to bring him back seeing as how their playoff hopes are just about dead.
If the Jets were starting a rookie quarterback or competing for a playoff spot, it would be a no-brainer to bring Wilson back, but that is not the case on both accounts.
Bringing Wilson back also increases the Jets' chances of winning games and the more games the Jets win, the worse their draft positioning will be.
Last but not least, if Wilson were to suffer a significant injury near the end of the season, it could impact his 2026 status and the Jets can ill-afford to have that happen, especially if they end up starting a rookie quarterback next season.
Knowing all that, it makes little sense to put Wilson back on the field in 2025. Let him sit out the rest of the season and get ready for 2026, when there will be renewed hope.
