The New York Jets had Robert Saleh as their head coach for a very short period of time, and after firing him, he rejoined the San Francisco 49ers to be their new defensive coordinator.
That didn't last long either, but for all of the right reasons. Saleh, after a successful season with the 49ers, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, has been hired by the Tennessee Titans to be their new head coach.
But, in a follow-up to his report, Rapoport shared another post on Twitter/x that was a not-so-subtle jab at the Jets for what they gave Saleh for his tenure as their head coach, specifically, at the quarterback position.
NFL insider takes jab at Jets with Robert Saleh Titans hire
"Robert Saleh lands with a second chance at a head coaching job - this time with a QB," Rapoport posted on Twitter/x.
This is a clear jab at the Jets, implying that when he was with the team, Saleh wasn't given a good quarterback. Looking at the quarterbacks during his Jets' tenure, it's hard to argue with Rapoport's point.
In 2021, Zach Wilson was bad, and the Jets knew they needed to make a fix. But it was his rookie season, and the Jets gave Wilson one more chance, as would most teams.
Wilson didn't perform well again in 2022, making the need for a new quarterback clear. In 2023, the Jets splurged on Aaron Rodgers.

Unfortunately, in the first game, his season-ending injury cut short any chance of competing that season for the Jets. And then in 2024, with Rodgers at the helm, Saleh was fired after a 2-3 start.
While his tenure didn't go as planned (with a 20-36 record), being saddled with Wilson for three years, and Rodgers for just five games, was always going to be difficult for Saleh.
Now in Tennessee, he will have Cam Ward at quarterback, a player who showed some promise in his rookie season despite a brutal supporting cast.
This post from Rapoport might not be wrong, as Saleh didn't have the best quarterback situation while with the Jets, but it's still a brutal look for the Jets to get blasted by a national NFL insider for their handling of the quarterback position.
