The New York Jets are currently 3-12, and with matchups against the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills to close out the regular season, there doesn't look to be much of a chance they finish anything other than 3-14.

With a potential 3-win season on the horizon for Aaron Glenn in his first season as the Jets' head coach, there are ample historical reasons why Glenn should be concerned about his current status as the team's head coach.

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic shared the statistics for why Glenn should be worried about his Jets' job if he finishes with three wins this season.

Why Aaron Glenn should be concerned about Jets' job amid history of 3-win coaches

Rosenblatt highlighted a few key statistics for head coaches that led teams that won three games in a season over the last 10 years, from 2015 until 2024.

"13 of those coaches were fired during or immediately after those seasons," Rosenblatt writes. Glenn has a safe job for now, as Woody Johnson has expressed a willingness to see this through with Glenn.

But, Rosenblatt also shared that, "Six of those coaches were fired either during or following the next season, including Brian Daboll (Giants) and Brian Callahan (Titans in 2025."

This means that of the 22 coaches who won three games in a season since 2015, 19 were either fired by the end of their second season with the team. Glenn would need a major turnaround to stay afloat in New York.

Of the three other head coaches (out of 22) that Rosenblatt highlighted, only Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions, Zac Taylor of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Kevin Stefanski of the Cleveland Browns are still in their jobs.

But Bengals fans are calling for Taylor to be fired after a brutal 2025 season, but the front office intends to be patient with Taylor. Stefanski might be fired after 2025, while Campbell and the Lions just missed the playoffs in a brutal regression from 2024.

Glenn can turn things around, and very well might if they find their quarterback of the future and make some great additions this offseason.

But the history of 3-win teams doesn't bode well for Glenn. His future in New York cannot be written just yet, but things don't look great at the moment for Glenn amid his first season with the Jets.
