The Justin Fields era with the New York Jets seems to be coming to a close.

Head coach Aaron Glenn finally benched the former first-round pick after weeks of poor play, and veteran Tyrod Taylor will get the start in Week 12 when the Jets take on the Baltimore Ravens.

But where will Fields end up in 2026? With one more year left on his contract, New York will either have to find a trade partner for Fields or cut him outright.

CBS Sports tabs the Vikings as a Justin Fields landing spot

Bryan DeArdo tabbed the Minnesota Vikings as a potential landing spot for Fields, given their propensity to rehabilitate former draft busts.

"Minnesota makes sense on multiple fronts. In addition to the likelihood of being in the market for a backup quarterback, the Vikings may be looking for competition to help push starter J.J. McCarthy, who has struggled to live up to his early season promise since coming back from his ankle injury," wrote DeArdo.

"The Vikings also make sense given the history Kevin O'Connell has had with former first-round picks. Sam Darnold, for example, parlayed his one season with O'Connell into a long-term opportunity with the Seahawks. It's possible that he could have a similar impact on Fields, who has shown flashes of his potential throughout his five-year career."

Fields certainly has the physical ability to be an NFL quarterback; he just hasn't been able to put it all together mentally yet.

Kevin O'Connell had a lot of success turning around the careers of Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones, and could likely try and get the same out of Fields.

While the Vikings certainly wouldn't give up draft capital to acquire the former Chicago Bear, if the Jets cut him, they would certainly take a flier on a veteran's minimum one-year deal.
