The New York Jets are off to a disastrous start to their 2025 season, even by their own lowly standards.

Aaron Glenn is the first coach in franchise history to start his tenure with five straight losses, and the team is the first in league history to start 0-5 without forcing a single turnover.

The defense is going to need an overhaul, as they currently rank close to last in the league in terms of EPA/play, and the front office can get started on the facelift as the trade deadline approaches.

Jets urged to trade cornerback Michael Carter II

Michael Nania of Jets X Factor recently named three players New York could cut ties with ahead of the early November trade deadline, and listed slot cornerback Michael Carter II as a potential candidate.

"Before his injury, Carter II was off to a sluggish start. He allowed 9-of-13 passes in his direction to be completed for 123 yards. In four straight games, Carter II allowed a completion for 20+ yards," wrote Nania.

"The Jets have a young pipeline at cornerback behind Carter II. They drafted Azareye’h Thomas in the third round of this year’s draft (although Thomas is primarily an outside corner), and they kept 2024 fifth-round pick Qwan’tez Stiggers from the previous regime."

With the young talent waiting in the wings and a bloated contract, Carter II becomes a prime trade candidate for the Jets.

On top of that, New York also just traded for 2024 seventh-round pick Jarvis Brownlee from the Tennessee Titans, whose profile Nania says fits the nickel corner position.
