The New York Jets are off to one of their worst starts in franchise history, with head coach Aaron Glenn becoming the first in franchise history to lose his first five games of his tenure.
While you could argue the offense has flashed at times, the defense has been an abject disaster, ranking 29th in the league at 0.15 EPA/play.
New York is headed for another lost season, and the front office and coaching staff will have to begin examining the roster ahead of the trade deadline and evaluate which players are in the team's future plans, and which are not.
Jets urged to trade free agent bust Andre Cisco
Chris Landers of FanSided recently named three Jets players who could be on the move ahead of midseason's trade deadline, and this past offseason's free agent acquisition, Andre Cisco, was tabbed as a player who could be used as a trade asset.
"Cisco has come in for quite a bit of flak amid the complete dissolution of the Jets defense in recent weeks, but much of that just comes down to the fact that deep safeties are often the most conspicuous player on the field when things go wrong," wrote Landers.
"Aaron Glenn has left him on an island on a regular basis, and the Jets' issues at corner opposite Sauce Gardner have given him more than his fair share of messes to clean up."
While Cisco isn't a star player by any means, he's still a starting-caliber NFL safety and could have some value for teams looking for a spot starter still trying to make a playoff push.
Considering the fact that the Syracuse product is set to be a free agent at season's end, it wouldn't cost much to acquire the veteran, likely in the ballpark of a 2026 Day Three selection.
But for the Jets, they could use all the draft capital they can get if they look to reset this roster and build for the future.
