  • Taylor debuts as Jets starter against the Baltimore Ravens.

Tyrod Taylor is set to start again, this time with the New York Jets. Head coach Aaron Glenn declared on Wednesday that Taylor would be the new starting quarterback, stepping in for Justin Fields.

Facing a 2-8 record, a significant shift was imperative. Fortunately for the team, Taylor offers dependable performance as a backup quarterback. This seasoned player is now commencing his fifteenth NFL season. He's previously played for the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, New York Giants, and most recently, the Jets.

After earning the starting gig, Taylor spoke with reporters about what it means to him that he has lasted as long as he has in the NFL.

“I remember when I got drafted, there were some people that wanted to put me at wide receiver,” Taylor said. “I fought the notion down and I stood firm that I was a quarterback. That was what I had played my whole life. I just knew that if given the opportunity, I could show that. 15 years later, I'm still proving it and I welcome those challenges.”

This week, Taylor is set to make his debut as a starter for The Jets when they face the Baltimore Ravens. Given that their season is effectively concluded, the expectation is that Taylor can offer Jets supporters some enjoyable football during the season's final stretch.
