The New York Jets are heading into a Week 16 matchup against the New Orleans Saints in a matchup between two teams at the bottom of their respective divisions.
But the 3-11 Jets are on a downward trajectory, while the 4-10 Saints are on the upswing thanks to Tyler Shough emerging as a quality starter. That is trouble for the Jets, in more than just putting them at risk of losing this week.
Mike Florio of NBCSports Pro Football Talk highlighted a brutal Jets defensive statistic. With no interceptions through Week 15, the Jets are on the verge of some brutal history.
Jets at risk of making NFL-worst INT history
"Via NBC Sports research, it's the longest single-season streak since turnovers became an official statistic in 1933." Florio writes.
It's been nearly 100 years since the turnover became an official statistic in the NFL. And yet, no team has ever gone as long as the Jets have this season (14 games and 15 weeks) without forcing an interception.
But it somehow gets even worse if the Jets fail to force an interception in Week 16 against the Saints. "It's also tied for the longest streak of all-time, with the 2024-2025 49ers."

Seeing a team as good as the San Francisco 49ers, even amid their injuries the last two years, is surprising. They've been one of the better teams in the NFL, even including their down 2024 season.
The Jets have already made NFL history for the longest single-season streak, and now face the risk of breaking a tie with the 49ers for the worst streak, across any amount of time, for a turnover-drought of this degree.
Even if the Jets don't get a win in Week 16, getting just one interception will have put off the Jets of 2025 from going down in the history books as the worst interception team in NFL history.
