The New York Jets had several problems plaguing them throughout the 2025 season, but perhaps one of the most defining issues was inconsistent quarterback play.

They had hoped Justin Fields would stabilize the position, but he flamed out halfway through the year. Veteran Tyrod Taylor was serviceable for a few weeks, but he couldn't stay healthy long enough to hold the job down. Undrafted free agent Brady Cook started the team's final four games, and he looked every bit the part of a UDFA.

Heading into 2026, New York is in a prime position to land their quarterback of the future with the No. 2 overall pick. But who will they select?

Mock draft has Jets landing Oregon QB Dante Moore at No. 2 overall

In the latest mock draft from CBS Sports analyst Mike Renner, the Jets are projected to select Oregon quarterback Dante Moore to be their next hopeful franchise signal caller.

"Moore has some of the most effortless arm talent you'll ever see, with a throwing motion taken straight out of a textbook. He's shown some cracks under pressure this season, but that's to be expected with his limited experience," wrote Renner.

"If Moore doesn't declare, the Jets look poised to go the veteran quarterback route, as there's no one else worthy of reaching for in the top five or even top 20 this year."

There are currently questions regarding whether or not Moore will declare for the 2026 draft, as his College Football Playoff run is still ongoing.

Once the Ducks' playoff run comes to an end, there will be more clarity on the quarterback situation for next April. Until then, Moore is easily the second-best trigger man in the draft as of today, and would be a homerun pick for a Jets team starved for success and good quarterback play.
