Jets make NFL history with two stats that reveal major issues beyond Aaron Glenn image

There have been plenty of statistics to come from the disaster that has been the 2025 New York Jets season. The zero interceptions this season, Garrett Wilson leading the team in receiving yards with 395, and the brutal 0-5 skid to close the year are noteworthy.

There are plenty of other statistics that are hard to believe, and highlight just how bad things went this season for the Jets.

Two stats from Michael Nania and from Brian Costello of The New York Post highlight how this season's failure isn't solely on Aaron Glenn, and it's a much larger, more widespread issue.

Jets' history-making 2025 season is not only an Aaron Glenn issue

"The 2025 New York Jets: 32nd in point differential (-203), 32nd in turnover differential (-19), 32nd in yardage differential (-1,564)." Nania shared. First team in NFL history to rank 32nd in all three categories."

Not much of anything went the Jets' way in 2025, and this statistic, which highlights a combination of defense and offense ineptitude, shows how 2025 wasn't just due to Glenn's issues.

Glenn isn't free from blame, and plenty falls on his shoulders. But the very poor offensive performance this season, combined with the defense falling apart, has led to a brutal year for the Jets.

"Lot of focus on the lack of interceptions, but the Jets also finished the season with just 4 total takeaways," Costello writes, "which is an NFL record for fewest. The old record was 7."

The Jets couldn't force turnovers of any kind this past season, recording the fewest by a team in NFL history, despite the extra game to try and add to their paltry total.

This defensive statistic is partially on Glenn's shoulders, but combined with the negative 19 turnover differential, the Jets defense also didn't get much of a chance thanks to one of the worst offenses in modern NFL history.

Teams with a great defense and bad offense can only go so far, as seen with the Cleveland Browns in 2025. But, with the Jets having both a bad offense and a bad defense, things can very quickly unravel.

Most of the negative statistics came in the last five weeks of the year, when the Jets were blown out for five straight weeks, losing by a combined 134 points in that time frame.

Those losses came after the Jets began benching players, losing key starters to injury, and well after the Jets lost some of their best players due to trade.

A lot went wrong this season, and these two feats of NFL history are proof of that. But, this isn't solely the fault of Glenn, as the cumulative team effort on offense and defense made for one of the worst single-seasons in recent NFL history.
