When the New York Jets signed Justin Fields this offseason, one of the biggest ticks of approval to the move was his reunion with his college teammate from Ohio State, Garrett Wilson.
With Wilson seen as a top receiver in football, having such a weapon for Fields, who was coming to his third different team in three years, was always going to make the transition far smoother.
And in the Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson and Fields connected routinely as Garrett posted 95 yards and a touchdown from his seven receptions as the pair hit the ground running as a quarterback/receiver duo.
But how did it feel to be back playing with his old college teammate in Wilson?
“It was good,” Fields said. “Of course, it's always good when you get an in-game touchdown with an old teammate like that, but just like he said, it felt like old times for sure.”

Jets to rely on Fields/Wilson combo vs. Bills
With the Jets hosting the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, a lot will be put on Tanner Engstrand's offense to keep pace with Josh Allen and Co.
One way to do that is to target Wilson. Granted, Sean McDermott will be well aware of this and might cloud coverage to No. 5 to make someone else beat him.
Still, Fields is going to have to look Wilson's way often if New York is to get what would be a huge upset win against its division rival, but also others like Tyler Johnson, Josh Reynolds, and Mason Taylor will have to step up, too.
But a lot rests on Wilson's shoulders here, and if his connection with Fields can heat up, who knows what the Jets can produce against Buffalo.
Is it a long shot? Sure, but it isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility either.
