New York Jets fans' eyes were likely glued to Friday night's Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, featuring the top two quarterbacks of the 2026 draft class, Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore.
The Jets have an obvious hole at quarterback, and they are likely to pick a new trigger man armed with the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft. But what if they decide to go in a different direction and wait until 2027 to get their quarterback of the future?
The crown jewel of the 2027 draft is Texas quarterback Arch Manning, and New York, having three first-round picks in that draft, could be in an ideal position to move up and get the latest NFL quarterback from the Manning lineage. But would the family allow Arch to take his talents to the Jets?
Connor Hughes pours cold water on Arch Manning to the Jets
After Moore threw a pick-six on the first play of the Peach Bowl, an X user posted at Jets insider Connor Hughes that New York should "wait for Arch."
Hughes' response may be upsetting to some Jets fans.
"The Manning family will have him going for his doctorate before letting him play for the Jets 😂😂," Hughes responded.
Peyton Manning had the opportunity to declare for the 1997 NFL Draft when the Jets were holding the No. 1 overall pick, but opted to return to Tennessee for another season, possibly at the behest of his father.
And everyone remembers the 2004 NFL Draft, when Eli Manning was selected No. 1 overall by the San Diego Chargers, but refused to play for the franchise. He would eventually get traded to the New York Giants.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that the Mannings could attempt to manipulate Arch's landing spot as well, given the past family's history.
