The New York Jets are making a quarterback change amidst a miserable season. However, third-string quarterback Brady Cook won’t be moving up the depth chart.

Head coach Aaron Glenn announced on Wednesday that Tyrod Taylor would be taking over starting quarterback duties from Justin Fields. A small majority of Jets fans wanted to see Cook get some action, but for now they’ll have to wait.

Cook went undrafted out of Missouri in the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent all five seasons of his collegiate career with Missouri, throwing 50 touchdowns to 15 interceptions.

Glenn spoke with reporters about Cook’s positive development despite not getting an increased role for now.

“Still developing,” Glenn said. “There's been a plan for him from the very beginning. I want to make sure we do what's right for him. Who knows, we'll see what happens as the season progresses. I'm not promising anything. But he knows exactly what his role is when it comes to this team. I'll say right now, Tyrod is our starter.”

Even though he isn’t going to play anytime soon, Cook will now have the opportunity to watch how the 15-year veteran in Tyrod Taylor operates, which should be good for his development down the road as he tries to find his way in the NFL.
