The New York Jets are in the middle of a lost season, as Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey plan to rebuild the roster heading into 2026.

But there are still players on the current roster worth extending to keep around through the rebuild. One offense, other than the offensive line, there's no more important player than Breece Hall.

However, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Jets will likely have to contend with the Kansas City Chiefs for Hall this offseason. Thanks to their struggles in 2025, the Chiefs could more strongly pursue Hall this offseason.

"Also, adding an explosive running back such as Breece Hall or Travis Etienne Jr. Is worth exploring for Kansas City," Fowler writes.

Hall is certainly someone who fits the bill of an explosive running back. And this wouldn't be the first time the Chiefs explored adding Hall.

Rumors at the NFL trade deadline had Hall as someone the Jets were considering trading, and one of the top landing spots was the Chiefs.

The 2025 season is Hall's last under contract, and while the Jets could franchise tag Hall for over $11 million per season, they might not do so if they can get an extension or are looking to save some money.

So far in 2025, Hall has 877 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. His 4.4 yards per carry are 120th in the NFL, and his 201 rushes rank 10th in the league through 14 Weeks. He's also a good receiver, making 30 catches for 309 yards and one touchdown.

Hall is just 24 years old and one of the more explosive running backs in the NFL. Any running back-needy team would likely want to sign Hall, but none might pose more of a problem than the Chiefs.

Hall is someone the Jets likely want back, evidenced by their decision not to trade him in the final year of his deal. But retaining the star running back won't be easy, as the Chiefs will likely be pursuing Hall this offseason.
