The New York Jets are currently the worst team in football, as through six weeks, they've yet to win a game.
First-time head coach Aaron Glenn is doing his best to hold things together, but as each winless week passes, it's getting difficult to keep morale high.
To help navigate the difficulties of being the lead man of an NFL team, Glenn is leaning on his mentors for help amid a brutal start to the season.
Aaron Glenn leaning on mentor Bill Parcells for advice
After New York's 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos in England, Glenn told the media he had spoken with his mentor and former coach Bill Parcells.
The former Jets, New York Giants, New England Patriots, and Dallas Cowboys coach gave Glenn a comparison to his own rough starts at new jobs.
"I think in ’93 or ’94, he started 1-12. Hey, we beat them 45-0 at that time when I was here with the Jets," Glenn told the press.
"So, you have to go through these times, you have to figure out exactly how you’re going to end up winning games and continue to press forward on that."
Parcells is referring to his first season with the Patriots, when he started 1-11 in 1993.
The following few seasons, New England turned it around, even making it all the way to the Super Bowl in 1996.
Glenn is hoping to follow in his mentor's footsteps and complete a full turnaround of the lowly Jets franchise.
It remains to be seen if the former player-turned-coach will be able to pull it off, but for now, things don't look or feel great.
