It appears that New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is making steps towards a rebuild on the day of the 2025 NFL trade deadline.
The Jets opened the day up with multiple trades on Tuesday that involved two of their top defensive assets. Cornerback Sauce Gardner was dealt to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was traded to the Dallas Cowboys for defensive tackle Mazi Smith and a first and second-round pick.
It appears that the Jets might not be done, and a deal that involves running back Breece Hall could be in the works.
Schultz: Jets RB Breece Hall wants to be traded out of New York
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, New York Jets starting running back Breece Hall "wants to be out" of New York after the team dealt two of their top defensive assets on Tuesday.
Fellow NFL insider Albert Breer reported that the Jets are asking for a third-round pick in exchange for Hall, whose rookie contract expires at the end of 2025.
Hall, 24, was New York's second-round pick (No. 36 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft. He's been the Jets' top ball carrier since coming into the league, totaling 2,914 rushing yards, 1,470 receiving yards, and 24 total touchdowns in his career.
He's also been one of the top running backs in the league this season, currently having 581 rushing yards, 178 receiving yards, and three touchdowns (two rushing and one passing) so far this season.
