Aaron Glenn reveals frustrating Jets starting quarterback plan for rest of 2025 image

The New York Jets, coming out of a Week 9 bye, made some major changes to their roster. Sauce Gardner, Quinnen Williams, and Michael Carter II are gone, while Ja'Sir Taylor, Adonai Mitchell, and John Metchie are in.

But, with some major changes, some things stay the same. In the build-up to Week 10 for their matchup against the Cleveland Browns, the Jets have yet to announce their starting quarterback.

As Connor Hughes of SNYtv reports, Aaron Glenn has already decided on a starter for Week 10, but isn't announcing it just yet. When asked about whether this quarterback uncertainty would continue for the rest of the year, Glenn revealed a frustrating answer.

The Jets plan to continue their frustrating QB decision for the remainder of 2025

"Asked if he'd like to get to a point where he has set QB the rest of the season, so they can ride the ups and downs of having a set starter," Hughes reports on Glenn, "he said he doesn't worry about that."

This answer from Glenn is a frustrating one. He's admitting that the Jets will continue to not disclose their starting quarterback if they can help it going forward.

What this could mean is that for the remainder of the 2025 season, the final nine games of the year, the Jets could keep their starting quarterback under wraps until closer to game time.

Justin Fields has gotten all but one start this season, with his most recent a very strong comeback performance against the Cincinnati Bengals for the team's first win of 2025.

The expectation after such a performance would be that Fields is the starter, but with Tyrod Taylor fully healthy, and the indication before Week 8 that Taylor could be the starter, the 36-year-old veteran can't be ruled out for the Jets in Week 10.

This frustrating quarterback plan for Glenn and the Jets is one that's not likely to go anywhere anytime soon. There are only a few scenarios in which the Jets won't use this uncertain quarterback plan.

If one of Fields or Taylor gets hurt, then Glenn will have no other choice but to start one or the other. Or, if one of these quarterbacks goes on a hot streak, then they could keep the starting job for the foreseeable future.

But, until one of those two scenarios happens, Glenn will continue to play coy with his team's starting quarterback every week, making for one of the most frustrating situations in the NFL this season.
