New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced today that backup quarterback Justin Fields will be inactive on Sunday due to a knee injury.
Undrafted free agent rookie Brady Cook will serve as QB2 when the Jets face the Miami Dolphins in Week 14.
It will only be the second time this season that Cook is active on gameday, serving as the emergency third-string quarterback throughout the 2025 season.
Aaron Glenn believes Brady Cook will 'be a quarterback in this league'
At his press conference, Glenn was asked what he's seen from the former Missouri quarterback in practice.
"His improvement. He's a very fiery guy. The one thing that we do quite a bit in practice is, we have a number of competition periods. You see exactly how he goes about his business when his time comes up to really be in that situation to compete. He looks forward to it," Glenn told reporters.
"He always asks when those opportunities are going to come for him to get a chance to do it. We make sure we give him those reps. He's a very competitive guy. He's going to be a quarterback in this league. I do know that. I can't tell you when, but he'll be a quarterback in this league."
With Tyrod Taylor's injury history, there's a chance we could see Cook at some point over New York's final five games, especially if Fields' knee injury is serious.
In five seasons at Missouri, Cook completed 65.9% of his passes for 9,251 yards and threw 50 touchdowns to 15 interceptions.
